the weekend that wasn’t

Drew is a casualty of the current roller coaster weather and has a case of the flu. Perfect timing of course, as this was a three-day weekend for all of us to enjoy fantastic family fun-ness together.

I got a mani/pedi done during some down time. These salon girls keep getting younger and younger!

You have to pay top dollar to get precision like this.

Manicure complete. Great job Binnie! We are starting a whole new fashion trend right now!

The pedicure turned out mighty fine as well. Put it all on my tab, OK Binnie? Best part is, I have no nail polish remover!

Drew stayed right where he belonged and spent his time reviewing our vast Pixar & Dreamworks collection. Poor Scoob. Get better quick dude, the weatherman says it’s gonna be sunny soon!

Our life has finally resumed it’s regular schedule, we haven’t lost ourselves in the depths of spring break blues, or in mourning Kelsey’s departure. While the men are at school/work we ladies have kept busy doing fun stuff around the house, while we “patiently” wait for winter to pull it’s claws out of spring…

Here is Domestic Diva Brinley, host of the next hottest show on Food Network – Gourmet Cooking for the Toothless. Here she is getting ready to add the goose-goose, er….couscous to the pear/broccoli gumbo.

We use all natural ingredients, including leaves and bark…This chicken noodle soup will have a crunch to it, that’s for sure!

Moving on to breakfast foods…peaches, oatmeal and some Wheat Germ for added brain power. Rowan might not be crawling yet, but watch her IQ soar!

Later in the week Binnie & I decided to go full throttle with the girl power and make a new church bag for her. Here Brinley is showing us how to apply interfacing – it’s easy she says…just look for the bumpy side.

I let my 6-year-old play with matches and my (almost) 4-year-old do the ironing. Rowan put down the blow torch!

Do you think Brinley is having fun yet playing with all of mommy’s big girl toys?

Forget the bag, she’s breaking out, making something on her own. Something. Next week we’ll work on sewing a straight line.

Look at that intense focus. She didn’t even sew her fingers together!

Spring break: Day 3

And we are officially bored. mmmmhmmmm.

Yesderday we made kitty cookies. Yes, we baked for the cat. That is how bottom-of-the-barrel I am feeling right now. The kids liked it, that’s what’s important. The fact that I look like a crazy cat lady is beside the point.

Drew wrote down the recipe for us. Kitty cookies are an exact science. You don’t want to mess around with Cheddar and his cookies.

recipe

I always bake in my finest pearls – don’t you?

cornmeal

After this the kids fought over who got to crack the egg, so I got the mighty privilege. Lucky me!

wheatgerm

Approval from his highness before we move on to the next step.

Now for the fun part – flatten the dough. Nice technique Drew…

Cheddar was anxiously circling the kitchen. The smell of tuna wafting though the kitchen was more than this cat can handle.

cheddsar

After 15 excruciating minutes, the morsels of fishy goodness are finally baked to perfection. That’s closer than you ever wanted to get to cat food, isn’t it?

Drew made sure to document every step of the process. Next time he will be able to make these without my help:
tonua
flour
wheat germ
corn meal
egg
of oyl (olive oil)
cooke shet
spashla
scoop
flat
uvin
lite (so we can watch them bake, or course!)
15 minise
cute (cut)
toona cookies (boy – that tuna word is pretty tricky, huh!?)
clen up the ckichin (atta BOY!)

And clean up they did!
