under the weather

It started with Ryan, then spread to Rowan and I. Drew and Brinley were able to stave off the cold for a few days, but eventually went down together. We are all in varying stages of illness & recovery.

We’ve been taking naps, and watching lots of movies.

Taking numerous hot, steamy showers, and playing quietly inside.

Oscar has been pitching in, making sure Drew settles down and takes his recommended naps.

I think we have made it over the hump. Snotty noses, raspy coughs and wadded up tissue will soon be behind us. Until then, I am trying to enjoy the rarity of all thee kids sleeping at the same time!

back to school night

We were all pretty excited when Back to School night finally rolled around. We were able to go inside Drew’s classroom for the first time and see what he has been up to for the past couple weeks. Drew was happy to show us the reading corner, and where he sat on the rainbow rug and the whole “check in” process.

We saw lots of Kindergarten artwork…

And some of the details around his classroom. The right picture is of Drew’s small stash of “You Rock Tickets.”

At his desk, the “blue table.”

As we toured the classroom I was surprised to see Drew on the yellow light. We later found out that he was placed there on accident while the kids played around the classroom that night. phew! Although I am sure there will be more yellow lights in Drew’s future. I’m just bein’ real here…

And finally, Drew on his first day of school in a collage of other pictures taken by his teacher. What a stud muffin!

Drew had a blast showing Brinley and I around his classroom, he felt like the star of the show. Brinley soaked it all in and hated to leave.

first day of school

Drew jumped out of bed and checked his calendar & sure enough, first day of school was today! I followed him around the house as he prepared for his big day.

Can’t be goin’ to skoo with dirt behind the ears.

Gotta impress the chicks with his sweet spikey hair.

Lunch of champions…

This man knows that first impressions are everything.

Brinley pretty much walked Drew to school. We trailed behind and wondered when the honeymoon phase would end.

They held hands the whole way and chatted up a storm like it was any other day.

To cool to not go to school.

I wonder what they were expecting to see? Balloons? Party Hats? Dragons?

This was our last moment with him before they lined up all the kids and took them inside. We were bummed that we couldn’t see the classroom, but I guess the teachers wanted less congestion and more confusion. See ya Drew!

The honeymoon is definitely over.

Brinley never really got over it, but we pulled out the bag of tricks to keep her mind off it until it was time to pick Drew up. Drew came home happy and with a load of stories about his first day. But that’s a big bowl of stew for another day…
