tiny town

We took a trip up to Tiny Town last week. Tiny Town is a kid-sized city where everything is miniature. Some of the buildings you can walk into; most have little windows with interiors decorated to scale.

We found everything from realtors to grocery stores to greenhouses and gas stations.

Brinley is checking out the beauty parlor. Her appointment is at 2.

Walking around the firehouse…

The old schoolhouse. We told Drew about rulers and cone hats and his eyes got REAL big.

Brinley was just SURE this was Cinderella’s castle. MmmHmmm.

We took a break for lunch. Apparently we almost starved Drew to death.

Rowan chilled in the shade while the kids played on the playground.

Drew managed to leave a good amount of flesh behind. What kind of boy would he be without road rash?

After lunch, we took a much anticipated ride on the steam train. Gotta save the best for last!

The kids rode in the caboose, of course.

Drew made sure he came equipped with his train whistle from the last time we came to Tiny Town.

There were several little cabins, mining towns, and ranches along the tracks.

Exciting stuff!

Is there any better way to finish a day in the hot sun than with a cheap ice-cream cone?

We didn’t think so.

one hit wonders

This is a random collection of photos that are all crammed into one post. I’m trying to play catch-up so I can have a squeaky-clean conscience.

I walked in Rowan’s room a few weeks ago and found this. Don’t worry, Drew has a very ferocious jaguar wrapped up in that pretty pink blanket.

The kids were featured on the bulletin board at Chick-Fil-A in their cow costumes. They think they are famous, even though you can’t even see their faces. fun stuff!

Then there was Drew’s educational shower. Doin’ what we can to get the kid ready for Kindy. ha!

I have no words for this picture. really.

We watched the rain come down with a bowl of strawberries.

I tortured the kids with some chores. After they were done I made them scrub the floors, beat the tapestries and bathe the cat.

Daddy flew over the house. The kids are pretty sure they saw him honk and wave.

I attempted to get a picture of my three rugrats last Sunday. No babies were harmed in the taking of this picture, I swear! I really wanted a picture of my matching girlies…maybe next Sunday, or the one after that, or the one after that. Rowan just wasn’t into it.

And finally, the treasures I found in Brinley’s pockets today. I’m pretty sure that I have two girls, but the evidence here suggests to the contrary!

parks, rashes and car problems

OH MY!

What a week it has been! It started off with a nice summery bang. We went to the local sprayground and let the kids run around. Drew raced around and jumped over the water in true Lightning McQueen fashion.

Brinley ran through the water trying not to get her face wet. Can’t really blame her…she got sprayed up the nose once, and that’s all it takes!

We took a bike ride to Drew’s future school. We had to test out the playground and make sure Drew was ready for Kindy. What do you think?

I am pretty sure Brinley passed the test too, she is bummed that she still has 2 years to go. That’s okay…two more years to work on perfecting her fashion sense.

I think Drew is channeling his inner Spiderman in this shot.

Twiggy went along for the ride. She wasn’t too interested in playing so she caught up on her zzzzz’s…

And that brings us to rashes. What fun. Both kids has unusual reactions to their immunizations last week. Brinley’s leg swelled up, and Drew came down with erythema multiforme on his extremities. It is really quite lovely looking, although NOT contagious (whew!). Drew thinks he has polka-dots, that’s a much nicer way to put it.

To finish the week off, we attempted a trip to my happy place (aka Costco) only to discover that Sally (the minivan) wasn’t going to make the trip, she’s come down with an illness of her own. The kids were quick to offer a prayer in her behalf. We took her to the “doctor” today, and they will have her fixed right up. It’ll cost more than we’d like, but hey – it could be worse. That’s what I am trying to tell myself anyway.

Thank goodness for sweet, faithful children…
