gobble ’til your fingers stick together

On the day after Halloween, all those scary decorations are taken down and are immediately replaced by wreaths, candles, Christmas trees, etc. Hello!?! Does anyone remember that Thanksgiving comes first? Drew & Brinley know this, and have made sure that they pay the Great Turkey their respects…Before we devour him.

The kids stuffed the grocery ad newspapers from the junkmail stack into paper bags, twisted them in half, and then stuffed them some more. Then they used some colored feathers from Grandma F along with construction paper & pipe cleaners for the details on these overgrown chickens.

One of the great trials of childhood is dealing with glue. It builds character, right?

This turkey is looking a little crazy. Especially since the kids decided after they were done that it was missing it’s “hands.”

Happy Thanksgiving!

A few days ago the kids were begging for playdoh. Ryan and I were involved in some projects around the house and I didn’t feel like cleaning up after a playdoh hurricane. I’m not usually opposed to the mess (I love peeling chunks off of playdoh the bottom of my feet!) but this time I thought we could kill two birds with one stone! The kids could get their creative juices flowing and I would be free to finish up what I had going. So I kicked the kids outside with a few cookie sheets and our extensive playdoh collection.

Aerial view from Brinley’s bedroom window. I had to take out the screen to get this shot. It was worth it, and Ryan got to rescue a damsel in distress when I wasn’t coordinated enough to put the screen back in correctly.

This picture is the essence of being three. Sitting in the tall grass, smashing playdoh through a squisher to make spaghetti, or maybe it was linguine. Technical terms, huh?

Fun factory indeed. There isn’t anything more exciting than watching crusty playdoh ooze out of a squisher.

Chef Drew was cutting his playdoh into breadsticks. Mmmm, playdoh feast anyone?

Miz Rowan pretending to be coy. She has made her peace with the grass, but I didn’t make her lay in it this time. Not with a soft cuddly minkee blanket around. (Thanks Aunt Kelsey!)

I think she is looking towards Utah saying thanks Kels!

So much for being able to finish my project. I spent more time photographing them than anything else…

drew’s class party

And you thought the Halloween fest was over. Guess again!

Drew had a party during class, I was ask to be the Room Mom. Oh, the responsibility! After stressing for a few days everything finally came together. I was able to round up some awesome volunteers who helped make the party lots of fun. Drew’s teacher said this was the healthiest party she had ever had! Who says healthy can’t be fun?

Drew wore his costume to school, where the first order of business was a costume parade down the halls. Looking good Scoob!

There were lots of activities to do in the classroom. One involved mummifying classmates. It’s a hard job when you’re 4 feet wide.

The orange peels had Jack-O-Lantern faces carved in them and were filled with fruit. Don’t worry there was plenty of candy. Going sober takes time.

I was in charge of the cookie center. Double Stuf pretzel leg Reeses Pieces spiders. Say that 20 times really fast.

Drew wanted his spider to have six eyes. Yummy!
