this is the way we roll

when we walk to the park…

This picture cracks me up. I can clearly see why I have no friends. I must scare them away 🙂

Lets count the many ways that this photo is hilarious. First we have the guinea pig. On a leash. Being bribed to move forward by a dandelion. Then we have Drew, dressed head to toe in camo print, complete with matching green socks. He was SO proud of his outfit, and showed me twice how well it matched – how could I disagree? Technically it does “match,” right?  Did you notice that both kids have their shoes on the wrong feet? Super cool… Then we have Brinley pushing Jade-Lola (aka J-Lo) along. She even made sure to pack a diaper bag for her baby, such a good little momma. And we won’t even being to talk about who gets to babysit the guinea pig while the kids are playing at the park. Lucky me. That brings on a whole new level of coolness…

But you know what? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Anyone want to join us next time?

Brinley is not a scheduled napper anymore (bummer!), but with the nice weather lately, the kids have been able to play outside quite a bit. Of course this makes them tired, grumpy monsters by the time late afternoon rolls around. As sweet as it is to see her crashed on the couch, it makes for an interesting evening. Hopefully the kids will get used to the increased activity, because it is so nice when they go to bed without a fight and fall asleep within minutes of hitting the pillow!

We went from this…

to this…

From 80 degrees. To 40 degrees.

From listening to the sounds of happy kids playing together in the backyard. To listening to them whine and bicker. All. Day. Long.

From water fights. To snowball fights.

From popsicles. To hot cocoa.

From sweaty stinky kids…to well, sweaty stinky kids. Some things never change.

Not fun.

We tried to make the best of it. We played in the snow, but it was so wet that they soaked through their gloves pretty quickly. We put the snowsuits in the dryer and played outside a second time. We tried to make a snowman, but the snow was melting too quickly. We watched movies. We tried to get into the spirit and made salt-dough snowmen (more to come on that later). I think we were ALL wishing that spring would come and stay a while!
